Carole Freeman is a Respiratory Therapist and Breathing Specialist and holds a graduate degree in Health Sciences from Loma Linda University Medical Center. She focuses on the relatively new field of pulmonary medicine in recognizing and treating breathing disorders.

UKULELE FOR BEGINNERS, SECTION II

This is your chance to learn to play this amazingly versatile instrument. You’ll need an ukulele, some curiosity, a love of music, and time to practice. Join our stress-free program for plenty of fun and learning. You won’t want to stop once you have mastered the fundamentals. The nicest part is that you don’t have to read music! Sign up, tune up, and show up to start your musical adventure now! Registration closes at noon on 2/22. Buying a ukulele? Duncan can provide you with brand, price, style, and size recommendations as well as local stores where you can purchase an excellent beginner’s ukulele. Duncan Perry is a popular ukulele performer and teacher. He believes studying an instrument makes the brain sharper, helps reduce stress and brings joy to the uke players and audiences. He has taught the powerful ukulele to almost 700 individuals!

Lacto-ferment cabbage and add some twists to result in delicious, safe, home-made signature cabbage-based ferments. You’ll learn a bit of microbiology and basic techniques to create basic sauerkraut, Salvadorean curtido, and coleslaw. Fermented vegetable salads and condiments add flair, probiotics, and nutrition to any meal. Zoom link and materials list will be provided upon registration. A WRITER’S WORKSHOP -LIVE ONLINE

Do you want to improve your writing skills for work? Write a poem to your beloved or finish that family memoir? Or maybe you’ve considered writing a script. If so, come join us in this 6-week writer’s workshop where we will explore a variety of writing genres. This fall, our focus will be on STORIES—both real and imagined. In this class, we will analyze the elements of effective storytelling, including (but not limited to) plot, character, scene, point of view, voice, and tone. Participants will write and/or revise their stories of choice, and together we will examine successful writing strategies and tricks of the trade. And most of all, we will discover that writing can be fun! Pre-registration is required for access to online link.

Kristin Leonard holds a Masters in English (Literature), as well as an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine.  She is the 2019 recipient of the Maine Literary Award for Drama and Lit Fest’s 2019 Dramatic Writing Fellow for Emerging Writers. Her critical and creative work has appeared in The Explicator, Ekphrastic Review, The Atlantic, New Hampshire Public Radio, and more. Learn the basics of informational and transferable skills focusing on what you want to do and how to simplify life using your computer, laptop, or tablet as well as the Internet and Gmail. FERMENT THIS! GLOBAL TWIST ON FERMENTED VEGGIES: CURRIED CAULIFLOWER AND SHISH TAOUK TURNIPS

Flavors from India and Lebanon will infuse these vegetable ferments. We’ll discuss basic fermentation techniques, and then create a curry-style ferment using cauliflower, and Shish Taouk turnips. Learn how to create these yummy fermented veggies with turnips or white daikon radishes. The secret to both ferments is in the spice. Zoom link and materials list will be provided upon registration.
