TAI CHI – THURSDAY SESSION

$30

with Volunteer Leader

Calendar Apr 6, 2023 at 10 am, runs for 12 weeks

One of the longest-running classes at SVACE since 2017 is Tai Chi, hosted by Bob Mason. In this easygoing course, Bob taught us to recondition the mind and body simply through movement, breathing and focusing. He aptly called it “meditation in motion.” This course is now listed under the SENIOR CENTRAL section of our brochure. Bob has retired from our program, so a couple of loyal Tai Chi students are now leading the group in both the Qigong exercises and the Yang Style 24 forms as well as introducing new paragraphs of the 42 Form. Please join us this spring in the newly renovated Pike Hall in Cornish to renew your mind and body. Please pre-register as a minimum of 8 people is required to run the course.

Shoulder Pain Workshop

Free

with Foothills Staff

Calendar Apr 11, 2023 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

SHOULDER PAIN WORKSHOP

Do you or someone you know have shoulder pain? Due to its anatomy, the shoulder joint is one of the most mobile joints in the body and allows us to do complex motions to work and play sports and even to perform simple activities such as dressing ourselves. Unfortunately, the highly mobile shoulder joint also makes it susceptible to injury. When our shoulders hurt our quality of life suffers. This workshop will provide details on the causes of shoulder pain and how it can be managed. We will teach you how the healthy shoulder works and what happens when the joint does not, or cannot, function properly. You will learn when surgery may or may not be needed and how it can be treated more conservatively. Recent studies show that in most cases shoulder injuries respond well to non-surgical interventions. Please pre-register as we need a minimum of 4 people to run the course and space is limited to 20.
